Can I virtualize my VPS server?
Our virtual private servers do not support nested virtualization. But, our cheap, but powerful, dedicated servers and affordable virtual dedicated servers allow you to run your own VMs.
VPS hosting plan is right for me?
All Cloud VPS plans offer a lot of proverbial bang for your buck. The most popular plan our customers choose is the S VPS plan. Customers looking for high volume storage usually purchase a Storage VPS plan.
Regardless of the plan you pick, you can spin up servers in any of our eight global Regions located in the EU (Germany), the United States (New York City, St. Louis, and Seattle), Singapore, the UK, Australia, and Japan.
And if you need servers with more powerful specs, then you should check out either our Cloud VDS plans or our bare metal dedicated servers.
Can I change my Storage VPS specs?
Each Storage VPS plan is pre-configured to give you the most bang for your buck, so you’re not able to customize or change the hardware specs of your plan. But, you can upgrade to a better configuration or increase storage as recommended in your plan.
We also recommend exploring our cloud virtual dedicated servers (Cloud VDS) or checking out our brawny dedicated servers if you want end-to-end customization.
Can I change to a different VPS plan later?
Yes, you can upgrade to a larger VPS plan by contacting our sales team, and we will upgrade your VPS.
If you want to downgrade, then you’ll need to buy the smaller plan. Once you downgrade, we recommend transferring all the data from your current VPS to the new one, and then mark your VPS for cancellation. You’re always welcome to contact support if you need help with this.
What operating systems does my VPS support?
SmartAss hosting supports many operating systems (we firmly believe in offering as many choices as possible to our customers). You can choose from a wide range of popular Linux distributions: CentOS, Debian, Ubuntu, and many others.
We also offer Windows Server for those who prefer to roll with Windows. If you choose Windows Server, then note that the Windows license fee is added to your monthly VPS fee.
